Mackays can justifiably claim to be the leading manufacturer of trade books in the UK, with a capacity of over 40 million books per annum. The company has recently invested in a complete workflow suite, from prepress through to a state of the art binding line, with the final piece of the jigsaw now installed – a Timson ZMR press.

A range of different book formats
We are able to print and bind hardback and paperback books in a wide range of formats, including A, B, Large Crown, Demy and Royal. Colour jackets, covers and illustrated plate sections are produced at CPI’s specialist jacket printer, CPI White Quill.

Capacity for high volumes and fast turnarounds New investment at the plant has provided us with a total of 11 printing presses, 3 binding lines and 3 casing-in lines. This means that we have the capacity to handle large production volumes and fast turnarounds.

Direct deliveries and stock management Our logistics operation allows us to deliver stock rapidly and directly to destinations nominated by our customers, whether distribution centres, supermarkets or individual bookstores. Our on-line stock management system allows customers to track their stocks and deliveries.

Diaries We are the UK’s leading manufacturer of case-bound diaries in A4, A5 and Quarto formats. We have recently invested in both production capacity and support services for our diary customers, and last year we manufactured over 3 million units

By car
Exit the M2 at junction 3 onto the A229 and follow signs for CHATHAM, ROCHESTER, WALDERSLADE, LORDSWOODS. Turn right at major roundabout (with traffic lights) into WALDERSLADE WOODS, past the Bridgewood Manor hotel on your left. Continue straight on over the first roundabout, passing the BUPA Alexandra hospital on your left. At the next roundabout take the second exit into Lodswood lane, passing the industrial units to your right. Take the second turning on your right into Badger Road and follow road as it bends right. The entrance to MACKAYS is on your right. Once inside the gate turn right into the main car park and reception.
